Activate email
To have mailboxes on your domain (e.g. info@yourdomain.com) you need an active email pack on that domain. The domain must be managed by us: registered with us, or transferred to us (also in the same order as the email).
Three ways to activate it
- With hosting: hosting plans already include some mailboxes for the website's domain. Nothing else to do.
- From the Professional email page: choose the plan, enter the domain (already with us, new or to transfer) and complete the order.
- From the dashboard, for a domain you already have with us:
- Open Domains and click the domain name.
- Open the Email tab.
- If email is not active you see Email not active with the available packs: click Buy on the one you need.
The pack is paid once a year. If you later need more mailboxes or more space, add them from the Email → Service tab.
When it is ready
After payment, email is activated automatically, usually within a few minutes. From then on, in the domain's Email tab you find:
- Mailboxes: the domain's mailboxes (see Create a mailbox);
- Forwards: addresses that pass mail on to other mailboxes (see Forwards);
- Setup: the details for mail apps (see Set up a mail app);
- Service: expiry, renewal and additional packs.
More domains in the same plan
If the plan card says «Up to N domains», you can use the same plan with other domains of yours too. Open the email of the main domain (the one chosen at purchase), Service tab → Plan domains → + Add domain. You can add the domains you have with us, active and without an email plan of their own.
- Mailboxes and space are shared: for example, with 10 mailboxes you can have 6 on one domain and 4 on the other.
- Each domain has its own mailboxes and forwards (
info@shop.itandinfo@shop.comare two different mailboxes). - Expiry and renewal are those of the main domain: if the plan expires, email stops for all its domains.
- Removing a domain: from the row's three dots → Remove from the plan. Its mailboxes stay archived for 30 days: add it again before then and everything is as before.
The domain's DNS
For mail to reach the mailboxes, the domain needs the SiteLyra email records (MX, SPF, DKIM).
- DNS managed by us (the usual case for domains registered or transferred with us): the records are already there. If you removed them, add them back from Manage DNS → Apply template → SiteLyra email → Add the records.
- DNS managed elsewhere: add the records yourself at your DNS provider. The full list is in DNS records for email.
