Anti-malware scan

We check your website's files for malware (for example scripts added by someone who exploited an old plugin):

  • every night the files that are new or changed in the last day;
  • every Sunday all files.

Images, videos and archives (for example .jpg, .png, .mp4, .zip) are not checked; page, theme and plugin files are.

If we find a suspicious file

We move it to quarantine at once, outside the website: it can no longer be opened or run. We send you an email with the list of files.

What to do:

  1. update WordPress, themes and plugins (or your website's software);
  2. change the website and FTP passwords;
  3. check that the website works as before.

View and restore files

In your account open Hosting → your website → Security. The Anti-malware scan box shows the date of the last scan and the files in quarantine.

If a file was fine (it happens, for example, with a file you wrote yourself) and the website does not work without it, choose Restore from the ⋮ menu of the row: the file goes back to its place.

With Scan now we check all files. Scans on the server run one at a time: if one is already running, yours waits in the queue and starts right after; meanwhile you see «Scan queued» or «Scan in progress» instead of the button. After a few minutes click Refresh to see the result.
