Glue records
Glue records are needed if you want nameservers named after your own domain, for example ns1.yourdomain.com: they tell the registry the IP address of those nameservers. If you use SiteLyra's nameservers you don't need them.
Create a glue record
- In the dashboard open Glue records and click New glue.
- Domain: the domain the nameserver belongs to.
- Name: the part before the domain (e.g.
ns1). - The server's IPv4 address and, if any, IPv6 address: they must be public addresses.
- Click Create glue.
Then add the nameserver to a nameserver group and assign the group to your domains.
The Glue records page
- At the top you see how many glue records you have (and on how many domains), how many are used in your nameserver groups, how many domains are on those groups and how many glue records are not used.
- The All, Used and Not used tabs filter the list; search finds a host name or an IP address. The Groups column shows which groups use the glue record.
- Clicking a glue record opens its domain, IP addresses and the groups using it, with how many domains.
Edit or delete
Edit (in the glue record's window or from the ⋮ menu) changes the IP addresses: the name can't change, for a different name delete it and create it again. If the glue record is in use, the new IPs apply to all domains of the groups using it.
Delete (⋮ menu) is shown only if no nameserver group uses the glue record: remove it from the groups first.
