Nameservers
Nameservers tell the internet where a domain's DNS records are. With SiteLyra's nameservers you manage DNS from the dashboard and website and email work straight away.
Choose a domain's nameservers
- Open Domains, click the domain name and then the Name servers tab.
- Under Nameserver group choose the group and click Use this group.
The SiteLyra group (marked System) contains our nameservers: use it if your website, email or DNS are with us.
Custom groups
If the domain's DNS is managed elsewhere (for example by another provider or your own servers), create a group with those nameservers. In the dashboard: Nameservers → New group.
- Group name: a name to recognise it.
- Nameservers: 2 to 13, in order (e.g.
ns1.example.com). - Click Create group.
The Nameservers page
- At the top you see how many of your domains are on our nameservers and how many on others, how many groups you created (and how many with glue records) and how many no domain uses.
- The All, Used and Not used tabs filter the list; search finds a group name or a nameserver.
- Clicking a group opens its nameservers (with the glue IP, if any), the type and how many domains use it; Edit is there (not on the system group).
Editing a group updates every domain that uses it. Delete (⋮ menu) is shown only if no domain uses the group.
For nameservers named after your domain (e.g. ns1.yourdomain.com) you need glue records.
With external nameservers DNS is not managed from our dashboard: see Use our DNS.
